The National Theater (Traditional Chinese: ?????) and the National Concert Hall (Traditional Chinese: ?????) Are twin theaters in Taipei, Taiwan. The structures were completed September 20, 1987 and officially opened their doors next month as places of ational Chiang Kai-shek Cultural Center. Vice President Lee Teng-hui and Premier Yu Kuo-hua chaired the opening ceremony for both buildings October 31, 1987.
In 1999, the Department of Educational Administration Integrated Cultural Center with government the National Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of China and National Chorus. In 2004, this more robust Administration Center became a separate executive body judiciary. The Cultural Center is directed by artistic director accountable to a board of directors. The artistic director oversees all activities in two sites.
Each structure can accommodate at least two events simultaneously. The National Theater features a smaller and Experimental Theater National Concert Hall incorporates a more intimate Recital Hall. The pipe organ by Flentrop Orgelbouw in the National Concert Hall was the largest organ in Asia at the time of its installation in 1987, we often heard in concerts and recitals. Both structures are art galleries, libraries, shops and restaurants.
