When most travelers think of Cancun, the beaches and luxurious resorts are the first things that come to mind. Yet, as many other cities in Mexico, Cancun is home to a vibrant local culture supporting museums, galleries and theaters. One of the best examples of the spirit Creative Cancun is the National Folkloric Ballet of Mexico, a decades-old production dedicated to the history of various countries. Presented as a dinner show with open bar, Cancun Folkloric Ballet offers its guests an evening full of local flavor and excitement. Throughout the area Hotel Cancun and the traditional downtown known as El Centro, visitors can also find unique dance performances and music at many restaurants, centers performing arts and even on busy street corners. Founded in 1960 by undertaking a ballerina, the National Folkloric Ballet of Mexico has long been one of the first entertainment of Cancun. For nearly five decades, Silvia Lozano – Founder Ballet, Artistic Director and choreographer – has combined influences as diverse as Mexican history and folklore, the tradition of European ballet costumes avant-garde in making his world-renowned show. In 1977, after Acclaim for Lozano historically minded company spread across the country, the Folkloric Ballet National has been named the official dance company of Mexico. In the years that followed, the ballet has traveled the world visiting five continents and 30 countries, amassing price and rave reviews on the road.

Today, the National Folkloric Ballet of Mexico is presented every weekday evening at the state-of-the-art Cancun Convention Center. Visitors have the option of purchasing tickets for a dinner show – which cost includes a substantial meal that includes flavors from of all of Mexico, privileges open bar and free – or the show with an open bar. Dinner guests are encouraged to arrive at 6:30 PM for drinks, meals are generally served at 7 PM. The daily performance begins each night at 8 pm and includes 80 minutes of traditional dance and modern music inspired by local and lighting experts and presentation.

Costa Blanca Shopping Center, El Mexicano Restaurant has created similar performances in an intimate setting. Each night, 7-11, dancers and mariachi bands move across the room, creating a festive atmosphere that has been welcomed visitors of all ages. Like the National Folkloric Ballet of Mexico, performance El Mexicano Restaurant drawn from the entire nation rich cultural traditions and have many dances of historical interpretation.

As the popularity of the dinner, performances with the ballet and other cultural performances has increased in recent years, There are now several restaurants and theaters both in the Cancun Hotel Zone and El Centro offer similar entertainment. Specifically, Xcaret is home to a pair of rooms that can accommodate 6,000 spectators and is known for the entertainment complex with live music, acrobats and dancers. Throughout the year, dancers and mariachi bands can be found on street corners many times in the Hotel Zone and El Centro.
